First CMT Meeting, October 2024, Larch Hill National Office

The Contingent Management Team (CMT) has officially begun preparations for WSJ 2027, holding its first planning meeting in October 2024 at the Scouting Ireland National Office. This meeting brought together an enthusiastic group of individuals of all ages, along with members of Scouting Ireland’s professional staff, all united by a common goal: to deliver an outstanding WSJ. The primary focus of this initial gathering was to create a clear and inspiring vision for WSJ 2027, building on the successes and lessons learned from past Jamborees.

One of the central areas of the meeting, following the 2023 Jamboree in Korea, was the strong sense of energy and commitment to providing the best possible experience for all Youth Participants, leaders, and IST. This renewed enthusiasm was evident in the CMT’s early discussions, which revolved around essential topics like recruitment, training, and preparation for both young people and adult volunteers. Understanding that the Jamboree’s strength lies in its Troops, leaders, and IST, the CMT highlighted the need to equip all participants, especially leaders, with the skills and resources necessary to create an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. To this end, a significant portion of the meeting was devoted to establishing a comprehensive and innovative training plan for leaders, ensuring they receive the best possible support.

The CMT utilized past experiences and feedback from leaders of previous Jamborees to pinpoint areas for improvement and success, aiming to design a program that would provide leaders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to effectively support our Youth Participants. The shared objective was clear: to ensure that every young person and adult attending WSJ 2027 feels empowered, supported, and inspired to fully engage in this extraordinary world scout event.

Another important topic discussed during the meeting was contingent apparel. We gathered feedback from our previous youth participants and leaders, and a new apparel set is currently being developed!

A prominent theme throughout the meeting was a renewed and positive emphasis on incorporating feedback from past Youth Participants, leaders, and IST, focusing on how we can provide the best Jamboree experience for all Irish scouts attending in 2027.

The meeting laid a solid groundwork for the work ahead, fostering a collaborative spirit and a sense of purpose that will guide the CMT’s efforts over the next two and a half years. By emphasizing preparation, training, and a shared vision, the team took its first significant step toward creating a truly memorable and impactful Jamboree experience.
