Hey there,
Thanks so much for taking the time to learn about the World Scout Jamboree 2027, and our Irish Contingent. It’s been 9 months since I was appointed Head of Contingent and we’ve had numerous meetings so far to plan our strategies, timelines, budget and more. I’m thrilled to announce that we are now accepting applications!
This website is designed with YOU in mind. We’ve anticipated your questions, the information you may need, and any problems you might encounter. I’d encourage you to read through the Frequently Asked Questions and Get Involved pages before starting your application – they have tonnes of useful information including full information packs for Troop Scouters, IST and Youth Participants. Another great resource is the official Jamboree website: jamboree2027.org.
You should also have a look at our Events page where you can register for upcoming webinars for the International Service Team (14th April) and Youth Participants (16th April).
Applications
Applications will consist of 2 or 3 stages, each designed to learn more about you and your interest in the Jamboree.
- General Information: For important contact and personal details. If you’re under 18, we’ll need your parent/guardian’s contact details
- Personal Statement: Explain why you’re interested in the Jamboree, what it means to you and how you’ll embrace our contingent values of inclusion, collaboration, and empowerment
- Scouting Reference: For Troop Scouters/Leaders and IST, this should be from someone more senior than you such as your Section/Group leader, or County/Provincial commissioner etc. and can’t be a family relation. Youth Participants don’t need to submit a reference.
Next Steps,
Applications will be open for at least two months (until the end of May). For Participants and IST, we aim to send confirmation to successful applicants by the end of July. After that, we’ll set you up on our registration platform and the first deposit (€500) will be due by 17th August through the platform. This payment is crucial as it confirms your place directly with the Jamboree organisers.
For Troop Scouters, the process is a bit more complicated. We’re aiming for 40 Scouters to cover 10 Troops (4 per Troop). The sooner we can confirm our Scouters, the sooner we can determine the number of Participants and IST we can accommodate. If we don’t get 40 Scouters then confirmation may be slower for Participants and IST to avoid a situation where we have more Scouts than Leaders.
Troop Scouter applications are not first come first served, you must still follow the application, but we will review and confirm places on a rolling basis as soon as applications start coming in. If we have more than 40 Scouters interested and available, we can add more Troops to our Contingent (40 Scouters is our target, not our limit).
In summary, while applications will be open for at least 2 months, the sooner you apply the better. Knowing the total number of interested individuals allows us to plan accordingly and adjust our contingent numbers. Bottom line: please don’t wait until the last minute to apply.
Thank you once again for your time, it’s been heartening to hear about people’s different Jamboree experiences over the last few months and I’m really looking forward to creating more unforgettable memories for everyone in our Contingent.
