A World Scout Jamboree takes place somewhere in the world every four years and in 2027 we’ll travel to Gdańsk in Poland. This will be the 26th World Scout Jamboree and the first in Europe since Sweden, 2011.
Scouting Ireland has a long history of sending contingents to the World Scout Jamboree with each Contingent enjoying a varied and exciting experience. The 26th World Scout Jamboree will take place from 30th July – 8th August 2027, and is being hosted by ZHP, the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association.
You can read more about the Jamboree here: jamboree2027.org.
See what it’s all about
Everyone should experience a World Scout Jamboree at least once in their life. If you’ll be aged 14-17 in August 2027 then read on to see how you can join one of our Scout Troops on an adventure to remember. Through 10 days of cultural exchange, exhilarating programme and groundbreaking personal development, you’ll remember this trip for the rest of your life.
If you’re aged 18+, you have the chance to make this event truly spectacular. You can lead one of our Troops as a Troop Scouter, supporting participants throughout the Jamboree, creating a lasting impact on all those you meet. Otherwise, you can go behind the scenes as part of the International Service Team (IST). The beating heart of the Jamboree, you could be delivering programme, leading a subcamp or leading a team of journalists to create a daily newspaper.

Our Purpose
Our purpose is to support young people to have the adventure of a lifetime, and gain lifelong memories, skills and friends.
Guided by the values of inclusion, collaboration and empowerment we will create a contingent that is sustainable, youth led, and safe.

Get Involved

Take your time to read through each opportunity below to see where you fit in.
When you’re ready, follow the link below to go straight to our Contingent Application Form.
Follow the instructions carefully to make sure your application is counted.
Then we’ll get in touch to confirm if you’ve been successful and lay out the next steps as a member of the contingent.
If you are interested in both Troop Scouter and IST roles, you should submit one application as a Troop Scouter. You can indicate on the form that you would like to be considered for IST if not selected. Please do not submit two separate applications.
Jamboree Participants
Participating in the Jamboree is open to active Scouts who are born after 30 July 2009 and no later than 30 July 2013.
We are looking for Scouts who will act as ambassadors for international scouting – sharing what they learn and inspiring the next generation. Scouts who work hard, look after those around them, and want to leave the world a little better than they found it
We want to support Scouts who may not have the money, but would benefit most of all from attending the Jamboree.

Troop Scouters
Life on the Jamboree will be largely similar to an extended Summer or Annual camp. The Troop Scouters should have experience camping for long periods at a time, cooking and preparing several meals a day and have basic first aid knowledge to deal with minor incidents.
Great Troop Scouters are open minded and willing to receive the ideas and initiatives of others. They foster a sense of equality and mutual understanding to ensure the success of the Troop. Troop Scouters will have a strong personal belief in the importance of youth involvement (being “youth shaped”) and understand the benefits of actively involving young people in every aspect of Scouting.
The Head of Troop (and all members of the Troop Leadership Team) should be role models for sensitivity and cultural awareness during the Jamboree and the build-up to it, bearing in mind participants in the Jamboree come from 160+ countries where cultures, attitudes and practices may differ drastically to Ireland.
Having experience of a previous World Scout Jamboree (as a participant, IST or Troop Scouter) is considered beneficial, but not required for Troop Scouters.

International Service Team (IST)
The IST are what make the clocks tick on the Jamboree. You will take on a role in any of the Jamboree departments and could be delivering programme, making content for the media team or even arriving a few days early to help build the site.
We are planning to recruit 100 IST volunteers to join the Irish Contingent and there will be a 3 step application process including Personal Information, Personal Statement and a written reference from a Scouting colleague.
